Brief Facts: The Bahamas is comprised of a chain of Islands located
just a few miles east of South Florida. The Bahamas was recognized as a
formal British colony from 1783 until it became an independent country on
July 10, 1973. Flag Information: Native Bahamians designed their flag with the country's golden sands and aquamarine water in mind.
